In October of 2026, I worked with independent theatre company Tip Toe Theatre to create the lighting design for their Melbourne Fringe 2026 show TOO by Bronte Lemaire. This show was performed in the MC Showroom.
“Written by Bronte Lemaire, ‘Too’ is a verbatim play created from the real stories and thoughts from the non-binary community. Physicalised by a skilled genderqueer ensemble and covered by live coded projections, ‘Too’ explores the gender queer relationships and intersections with neurodivergency, race, family and sex.” (Melbourne Fringe, 2026)
A large component of this show was the projection and live coding. Throughout the show, an onstage camera sent live footage to a laptop where AV Designer Jakob Shuester was using live coding to distort and abstract the images in real time. These images were then projected back over the stage.
A large part of the lighting design for this show was ensuring that the lights did not blowout the projector. Carefully placed side and top lights lit performer’s bodies and enhanced their expressions without negatively impacting the clarity of the projection.
For TOO, I fulfilled the roles of Lighting Designer and Electrician. This show was programmed on an LSC Mantra Lite in a 80-seat blackbox theatre.
